Bavithra Paintings : Colorful fruits painting (fabric paint )

This painting was made using a technique called 'Single stroke painting'. The paint used is Fabric paint on 'Snow White' chart paper.
Single stroke painting : Thick flat brush with synthetic hair is dipped in two different colors. So the two tips of the brush is loaded with two colors. Now blend them both by up and down movement in a plastic sheet.
Now the brush would be loaded with blended color. Use it to paint. The name single stroke is because, the brush once pressed on the surface,it is taken back only after finishing one side of the leaf.Similarly each grape and strawberry were made.

Bavithra Paintings : Chinthamani Vinayagar

This vinayagar is denoted by the name "Chinthamani Pillayar".
He will have a snake tied to his belly, because of which south Indian people have a belief that 'This vinayagar photo should not be hung at our home'.
So I didn't paint that portion alone and now I can hang in my home :) :)

My Placement days!!! (Day 2)

Day 2: 21-01-2011

First of all sorry for my long delayed post as i had mentioned in my previous post that I will share my interview experience in the next post.
Okay here it goes for u.. :)
I had no time to prepare for my technical interview, as I reached home by 10pm the previous day. Also I had to wake again by 4am that day and start for the college where the interview was conducted.
So my preparation was only my prior knowledge about programming and other stuffs.
Then reached the college and I had to take a printout of my resume. There was a xerox shop at the college and I took two copies. But later it was never used. None asked about my resume, even my HR who interviewed me.
Then we all were asked to make a long queue before a building entrance and I thought its for checking some sort of forms. The line moved slowly and I reached the table where that process was going on. Actually it was for sealing the  "Boarding pass book" issued by Anna University. That book had around 20 leaves  which can be used to attend 20 off-campus interviews. We were asked to paste two passport size photos in the first leaf. The leaf has to be filled up with details such as the company name which we are going to attend the interview, our college name etc and other details. It is to assure that we had attended a company before and in case if we got selected we are not allowed to attend any other off-campuses.Then a CTS seal was given in it.
After all these were completed we were asked to wait for a while a there was an announcement by one sir. I couldn't guess what it was. We all moved near him and he was fully surrounded by us (students). Also there were many staffs in that crowd. The sir in middle was calling out names and their number. He actually separated us to batches and we were allowed to follow an other sir who is responsible for each batch. A number was given for all the batches. My batch number was 41:-) All my friends came into the same batch unexpectedly. Then we followed the staff appointed for our batch. Staff in the sense , a volunteer or lecturer working in that particular college and some people from Anna university too.
We were asked to wait in a corridor. The wait was too long so all of us started sitting down leaning towards the wall. It looked like a path in between rows of people sitting. Every one were sitting in appropriate order considering the batch number and their own identification number. To my right Kavitha was sitting and on left Rama from IT was sitting. Rama and me hadn't spoke much in our college days. But we conversed a little regarding DBMS and object oriented concept. Near Kavitha Mahalakshmi was sitting. We started preparing for technical interview. We had no idea of how the interview would be as how many rounds further or technical and HR interview combined or separated.
But for sure I know that HR round would be the last. So then my short term goal was to clear the technical round. Meanwhile people who belonged to batch number 10 , 11 so on started attending the interviews and they were returning. They came near our batch to share their experience with their friends in our batch. We enquired them and came to know that both technical and HR interviews are combined, the same person interviews both and technical stuffs were the maximum for many people.
Only lucky ones and very few had very casual interviews like kidding and normal conversations with HR. So I was in a compulsion to prepare for the technical part as I never revised of it once before at home. I was going through the object oriented concepts and DBMS. Then a few about php and python as I had written about them in my resume. The thing is every one were concentrating on the subjects which they had mentioned in their resumes.
Then we our self questioned about some sql queries and we were preparing. I started becoming nervous as the time and people progressed towards the call from one staff who takes us to the interviewer.
Then we were also called.according to the identification number I am the first, then goes kavitha, maha and rama. I was scared of that too as I had no one before me to say me their experience. Then we started moving. Actually we were sitting in the ground floor corridor and the interviewer is in a room at first floor. I imagined it as if a small room and we had to knock the door and ask him "may i come in sir " etc. Because I was told before by my Seniors and others that they would take into account of all those mannerisms also.
I was shocked to see that it was a big hall and number of HRs were seated with a table and two chairs each. That was not a shock actually, a sort of relief that I need not knock the door and other such formalities :-P  Then I had to wait there in first floor corridor. Behind the HRs chair there was a number board denoting the batch number. So obviously i need to go to the HR whose number was 41.

My number was called. I entered into the hall. All were busy with their HRs. I went near my HR and wished him with a smile even though i dint get the smile. :-P then he asked me to take my seat. I sat and my first question was " Hai bavithra.. Ok now let me know about yourself " he was very very cool and casual but i was very very nervous. I prepared a short note about myself in my mind and was ready to vomit it out.I told about my hobbies, academic project and other projects which i had come across in my college. I was very cautious at this part because at one point his face reaction was like "idhellam enakku edhukku " so i stopped there.
His next question was " Ok bavithra in which area you are strong or comfortable with ? " I said " " OOPS concept sir "..
Then started my technical interview. He asked me " what are major differences between object oriented and structure oriented concepts... not the simple differences say only few major differences "
But I started with simple differences only like creating classes , structures , inheritance , polymorphism , encapsulation etc. But he expected something else from me. He asked say something related to data in the difference.
I started struggling. There were papers in the table and I had pen. Wind blew and papers started flying gently. I started picking, he said no need no problem leave them. Then he asked me to write a simple C++ program using classes and he gave me a paper.
What I did is instead of writing in the normal vertically way I started writing in horizontally. After few lines of code only I realized that I am using the paper in wrong way. That is all..Lost my hope completely, thinking that they will take this also into account. Then he himself some how brought his expected answer from my mouth. Even in the program, I made great mistake due to anxiety. It is I dint declare the variable , instead directly I assigned value for it. That he pointed out. Lost my hope for the second time. Then he asked me "how the child class will make use of these values?". Again I prefixed the access specifiers such as public, private and protected . Lost my hope for the 3rd time :-(
There came the twist. He asked me "What happens to the data here ? What is this concept known as ? "  Without my consciousness I said " Data security.."
He said " Ya that is what I was expecting from you " :-). Thank god answered my first question. A sort of small relief I had.

But he found me being very nervous.
So he asked me " Are you very tensed ? "
i said " Yes sir little bit "
He asked me to have some water. There was a small mineral water bottle in the table, which was kept for him to have.
Initially I said no need sir we can continue.
He said "No problem bavithra have some water and go out have some breathe if you want. We can resume our process little later after you feel comfortable "

I got scared that for sure I am not going to be selected.
Then I opened the bottle and had some water.
Because of my nervousness I even forgot the regular mannerism of closing the bottle lid. I just placed the bottle and cap on the table with the bottle opened.
After few seconds he took the lid and closed the bottle.( My fear and hopelessness was at its top for the same reason that they would notice all these also )

Here goes my second question " how does the shift operator works ? explain me with an example "
I had never heard of it before. But some how guessed that the operator symbol is >>  and << . But how does it works I never knew it.
He noticed that I don't know that. So he asked my to write a number 10 in decimal and binary form.
I wrote the binary number with four digits. That denotes the Hexa-decimal format. He asked me to add 4 zeros before the four binary digits. Then he asked me to shift the zeros. Only then I remembered about that operation which I had studied in my digital paper.
Finally he made me to answer that question also.. :-)
After a few seconds he took my answer sheet of my written exam and was examining my scores.Note that it also had my details about strength and weakness, my percentage in each semester which I filled the previous day.
Then he started conversing in tamil.
" ellam nalla mark vaangi irukkinga nalla percentage, en pinna bayapdringa ? ippa nan ketta questions kaana answers ellam ungalukku theriyum but you could not bring it out only because of your fear. So just friendly ah pesunga. reply me casually "
I just gave a smile as I was not able to reply anything.
Then by seeing the word open source and python in my details he asked me whether I knew python.
I said "yes sir I know, and I have worked with it in lab sessions at our college "
He further questioned " In what way python is superior or good than other programming languages ?"
I answered with much confidence even though I don't know the answer properly like " user-interface, easily understandable and etc "
Then that is all. :-) He said " Ok bavithra we will see.. wait for your results " with a smile.
I left the hall after thanking him.

But after leaving the hall my mind was recollecting about the paper and bottle incidents.I was lacking my hope.
Called my mom and said I finished my interview process and told my faults also. Said her that I may not get through. She said " nadakradhu nadakkattum paravala vidu "
I texted the same to my close friend. He got anger on my lack of hope and didn't even reply me after few messages.
Then it was kavitha's turn and mahalakshmi's turn to enter the hall. I was watching them from the window outside.

After everyone finished, similar to the previous day every one were waiting till 6pm. But in an auditorium. No seats too for us. So we all sat down at the back.
Then as usual chats , mokkais, teasings , hunger etc.. Had a nice time again but with a small fear inside :-P

At last that terror sir came shouting asking us (everyone, not me and my friends alone ) to remain silent as the results are going to be announced.
There was pin drop silence not even cheer ups for those who got selected. he was reading the numbers continuously as per the alphabetical order of college names. No claps nothing. I was in a mind set to take it easy even if not selected as I confirmed that I will not get selected.

Finally my number was called out and I couldn't believe that for few minutes. Only after saranya shaking my hand for congratulating I realised that I really got selected. :-D
Then she too got selected.
Kavitha, maha and radha were also selected. I called my dad and told that I was selected and texted to all my friends.
At last we all left the college with full of happiness and satisfaction :-)
Thanks a lot to almighty :-) :-)

This post is bigger than my previous post. Sorry again for the long story if I had bored :-P

My Placement days!!!

It was off campus conducted by Anna University at Anand Institute of Technology. It was CTS (Cognizant Technology and Solutions).
I prepared very normally the day before the placement. They conducted it for two days 20th and 21st.I have already attended Infosys and Syntel but dint get through.I put my efforts a lot for those two companies by preparing quantitative from R.S.Agarwal.But they were of no use. The pattern was fully verbal and Reasoning.I got fed up.
My friends Chithra and Ramya were placed at CTS through On-campus.So I asked them the pattern and the questions which will be repeated. Thanks to them. They helped me a lot.
Day 1: 20-01-2011
I woke up by 4am as we must be there at the college by 7.30am and it takes more than a hour for me to reach Kelambakkam where the college is located.Mahalakshmi and Vanitha were about to accompany me from CMBT.Vanitha reached there a few minutes earlier. My dad took me to the CMBT bus stand. It was a full moon day.I started from home by 6.30am.So I was able to see the moon.It was too large than ever before in a mild yellow color. It gave me a good sort of belief that I have some chances to get through CTS.Then we reached CMBT.But Mahalakshmi was in heavy traffic so she came bit delayed.By that time we both missed a bus. Then a straight bus 570 a/c came.I informed maha to come soon or get into that bus when it comes out as we both went inside it.To our surprise she just then crossed the bus door.I shook my hands and she got inside the bus :-) Bus started. On the way vanitha was telling us that they will provide a form just a 5 or 10 min before the exam commenses and we must fill it with care.It may contain columns like our strengths and weakness etc.For few seconds I was thinking of it and had some answers in my mind. Thanks to vanitha because of her I filled that form so soon even without thinking which saved my exam time.
Then we reached the college.Met all my friends very soon without even searching for them inside the campus. My friend Jeeva taught me syllogism which i dint prepare well. And that was the maximum questions in CTS.We all discussed it very well and understood the concept. Thanks to jeeva. We were then just waiting for our college name to be called and we were teasing each other.
To my surprise i met my school friend Nithya. But because of my bad memory i  forgot her name. Then we had a short chat and shared our mobile numbers.
Then she showed me another school friend S.M.Dhivya.It was so nice meeting them.
Then atlast our college name was called. We all moved in a queue.Boys in one line and girls another. There was a sir who was going on shouting and scolding students to control the noise and any malpractices. When our college reached his place he said "Appa indha colg dhan neat ah proffessional look la irukinga" with a smile. Thanks to our hod sir Mr.Kumaran who made us to be like that. There i got another small hope that i have chances of getting placed.
Then some formalities like getting a bar code, filling the attendance sheet getting a seal in the pass book given by AU etc.
It was time to exam.Filled the form said by vanitha.Wrote the exam and completed by 11.30am.
Wanna say about Chithra. She got college on 20th but still she asked me to message or call whenever I was in need of her help.I will never forget her!
Then we had lots and lots of fun with my friends kavitha, jeeva, dhanalakshmi, mahalakshmi,Thenmozhi. We dont know how the time passed.
By 5.30 all were very hungry. The idly and Thakkali thokku which my mom prepared and gave was a delicious one at that time. Thanks to my mom!We were waiting for the reults till 6.30pm. Spent 7 long hours with my friends with complete fun.By 6.20 me and kavitha went to get some water. They were announcing the results.Me and her rushed to our friends place and informed them that the results are being announced. We all went nearer to the speaker. My number is 737,Kavitha:736,Maha:735.
And the count down started. My heart beat was at its peak.Initially they started in 100 series. Then it went on.It reached 700.I closed my eyes.Exactly at that time one of my close friend messaged for knowing my result. Then it reached 730.My god they called 735,736,737.Thats it..........Cleared my Apps!!!
There was another surprise waiting for me in the MTC bus on the way home. It was Rajalakshmi my school friend.I had no contacts of her till then.Felt very happy.
At last reached home by 10pm. :-)

The next day was Technical and HR interview..I will share it in my next blog.
Thanks for reading such a big post.Sorry if I had bored you!! ;-)

 Step 3:
- In order to select the images, you need to place the images in the root desktop.

  $sudo nautilus
-A window will be opened which is the root. You can edit the files in the root
if you access them through this command.
